Certified ATHLETIC Therapist, BSc. Kinesiology
Ryan Walkoski’s interest in athletic therapy began when he injured himself during a boxing competition and sought treatment from an athletic therapist. Seeing how quickly he was able to recover and return to training inspired him to pursue a career in helping others heal. This sport focused goal quickly evolved to include athletes and non-athletes alike.
After graduating from the University of Winnipeg in 2014 with a BSc. in Kinesiology, he certified as an athletic therapist in 2015. Ryan’s education in kinesiology and athletic therapy allow him to extend his practice beyond the clinic into working with several sports teams.
He has been the head athletic therapist for the Manitoba Lacrosse Association teams at competitions and national championships as well as being the head athletic therapist for the Manitoba Blizzard lacrosse team since 2017.
His education extends even further, informing his work as a personal trainer and group class instructor for the past 8 years.
Ryan typically assists people with injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents, workplace incidents, concussions, traumatic sports or training accidents, and chronic overuse issues. He uses a blend of manual therapy along with specifically designed rehabilitative exercise programs to help his clients return to better than pre-injury form.
Since being in the field, Ryan has taken professional development courses including SHIFT concussion management, Graston Technique instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and Mulligan joint mobilization techniques. These courses have allowed him to improve his skills and better help people live pain-free.
He is very excited to bring athletic therapy and it’s many benefits to Equilibrium and our clients.
